Fall Into Fitness
Autumn is a beautiful time of year, with its vibrant leaves and crisp air. It’s not the typical season that you’d think “oh, time to start a new fitness goal!” Obviously we disagree, we think it’s the perfect time! A new season of any kind is a new start, and fall is the perfect time for you start fall-ing into fitness - pun intended.
Embrace the Outdoors
Take advantage of the weather: Enjoy the cooler temperatures and fresh air by taking your workouts outside. We have a whole grassy area out behind Phenom and plenty of room in front of the gym if you want to incorporate some outdoor work into your lift!
Go for a hike or bike ride: Explore nature and get some exercise at the same time.
Try leaf-peeping: Combine exercise with sightseeing by taking a mental health walk or run in a scenic park.
Seasonal Workout Ideas
Apple picking: There are tons of local apple orchards (and pumpkin patches!) here in Clemmons and Winston-Salem. We personally recommend Perry’s Orchards in Moravian Halls or Hawk’s Pumpkin Patch, which is just down the street from Phenom!
Pumpkin carving: You have to do something with those pumpkins! We like to carve or paint our pumpkins. Pro tip - roast the seeds in your oven for a healthy, high protein snack!
Football-themed workouts: Kick off your Sunday before you watch any games by doing a football style workout. Incorporating skipping, agility runs, kettle bell swings, split squats and more will burn some calories and are easy to do at home.
Set Seasonal Goals
Challenge yourself: New season = new goals. The leaves are turning and it’s time for you to work towards a new PR!
Track your progress: Keep a fitness journal or use a wearable device to monitor your workouts. Tracking can fall apart a bit during the busy back to school season and the holidays will only make you busier and more stressed, so work on these important habits now!
Reward yourself: Celebrate your achievements with a lil sweet treat or a much needed rest day. After all, rest is just as important as the workout.
By incorporating these tips into your fall fitness routine, you can stay motivated, healthy, and enjoy all that the season has to offer.
